Sarah McGill

Sarah joined the Cancer Institute NSW in 2012 in the role of Director of Cancer Screening and Prevention. A Registered Nurse, Sarah holds a Master of Public Policy and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management. She is a Fellow of the Australian College of Health Service Management and is recognised as a Certified Health Executive, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). Prior to joining the Institute, Sarah worked in the New Zealand public health system in a number of strategic and operational roles. Sarah has been responsible for providing leadership, management and accountability for a wide range of clinical services, enterprise-wide clinical governance and patient safety, and quality, risk and corporate services. She has significant experience in service leadership, change management and service redesign. At the Cancer Institute NSW, Sarah is part of the executive leadership team. She oversees several key strategic programs, including: • the three national cancer screening programs (breast, cervical and bowel) • prevention activities relating to tobacco control and skin cancer and lifestyle behaviours relating to cancer prevention • social marketing and public education relating to cancer screening and prevention • working with primary care partners in prevention, screening and early detection and other cancer control activities.
