Shannon Jones is the Programs and Priority Populations Manager at SunSmart, Cancer Council Victoria where she works with GPs and other Health Professionals in developing strategies to improve the early detection and prevention of skin cancer. Shannon has a background in corporate health, health promotion and education. Combined with over 15 years experience with SunSmart, Shannon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program.
Shannon leads the Health Workforce Training Strategy, a 4 year funding commitment from the Victorian Department of Health and is passionate about making a difference to GPs and their patients in skin cancer early diagnosis and prevention.
The successful development and rollout of the Dermoscopy for Victorian General Practice Program which has seen over 350 GPs provided with dermoscopy equipment and upskill in skin cancer is one of the major achievements of the strategy.
Shannon's academic background includes a Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Promotion) at Deakin University and postgraduate studies towards Masters in Public Health at Monash University.
