Dr Mathias Seviiri is a medical doctor and genetic cancer epidemiologist. He graduated from Makerere University College of Health Sciences in Uganda in 2012, and thereafter he worked as a clinician. He then graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2016 with a Master of Public Health, after spending a full year at Cancer Council Victoria investigating the association between resting heart rate and all-cause, cardiovascular and cancer mortality. He is currently in the final stages of his PhD in statistical genetics at the Statistical Genetics Lab, QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, and Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. His work focuses on using statistical genetics approaches/bioinformatics and large-scale data to help understand skin cancer; causation, genetic susceptibility, prediction and survival.
